Lake Wheeler Park in Raleigh, NC

Have you ever been to Lake Wheeler Park in Raleigh, NC? Lake Wheeler Park was constructed all the way back in 1956. They even got help from the Army Corps Of Engineers! This massive park is made up of 650 acres of lake and 150 acres of parks and land.

There are a few things you can do at Lake Wheeler. You can rent boats, kayaks, fish, walk your dog, walk the trail, and even fish! There is even a small concession stand to buy drinks and snacks. You can also play on the sand volleyball court! Some of the activities and rentals depend on the season, so make sure to check before heading there.

You are allowed to launch your own boats at the boat launch. Motorized boats are allowed with the exception of Jet Skis. You are also allowed to water ski and go tubing! They just do not allow swimming in the lake. There are a few boating rules you must follow, which you can view here.

Boat Launch Fees

• City residents: $4/day

• Non-residents: $6/day

• Senior (age 62 or older): $2/day

• Annual rates: city residents $100, non-residents $150, senior citizens $50

Boat Rental Fees (Costs may vary)

• Jon Boats (Non-Motorized fishing boats): $4/hour

• Kayaks (single or double): $5/hour

• Pedal Boats: $6/30 minutes

Fishing Fees

• City resident: $3/day | $50/year

• Non-resident: $4/day | $80/year

• Senior (age 62): $2/day | $25/year

• Children (under 12): no charge

Courts

• Sand Volleyball Court: $20/hour (2 hour minimum)
