Top 10 Things To Do In Raleigh

Updated: Feb 8

Raleigh is a forever growing city and has caught the eye of many. Raleigh continually breaks records and gains accolades. It tends to be one of the hottest real estate markets and many large corporations are moving here as well. It is also in the top 10 places to start a business along with Durham NC. But Raleigh isn't just all economics, there are fun things to do here too! Take a look at some of these top things to do in Raleigh, NC.

Go Hiking

Raleigh has a lot of hiking trails throughout the city and is one of the top things to do. There are multiple paved and unpaved trails to choose from. Some of my personal favorites include hiking around Falls Lake, Umstead Park, and the Greenway Trails. The Mountain-To-Sea trail also goes through Raleigh! These trails are open year-round so you can go for your hike anytime.

Drive Shack

Drive Shack is a newer attraction that is open in Raleigh. Drive Shack is an interactive driving range offering climate-controlled bays and different types of golfing games! They also offer food, drinks and snacks served right to your bay while golfing. You can also go to the bar on the 3rd floor while you wait for your bay. Drive Shack can be quite busy so make sure to make a reservation!

Rush Hour Karting

Rush Hour Karting is right outside of Raleigh in Garner, NC. Not only do they have Go Karting, but they also offer axe throwing, video games, pool, and rock wall climbing! They have different types of racing including a Sprint Race and a Grand Prix style race. Rush Hour offers high-speed indoor racing on a 1/3 mile track with go-karts that go up to 40mph! There is also a full restaurant inside with beer on tap.

Biking On A Scenic Trail

The Nuese River Greenway Trail is a paved trail that goes throughout Raleigh. It starts at Falls Lake and ends in Southeast Raleigh for a total of around 30 miles. The trails allow walking, biking, running, and leashed pets! This trail is part of the larger 100-mile greenway and the Mountain-To-Sea trail.

Goto One Of Our Food Halls

The Raleigh area has two great food halls to choose from. The first is Transfer Co. Food Hall in downtown Raleigh. The other is called Morgan Street Food Hall, also in downtown Raleigh. They both are larger venues that make up multiple smaller restaurants! Both food halls offer a variety of types of foods and places to sit and eat. If you're looking for something good to eat, definitely check these places out!

Go Kayaking

There are a few places to choose from when you want to go kayaking. My personal favorite is kayaking on Falls Lake or down the Nuese River. But you can also kayak on Lake Crabtree, Umstead Park, Falls Lake, Nuese River, Robertson Millpond Preserve, and Harris Lake County Park. All of these locations are free to enjoy if you have your own kayak/canoe. Most locations also offer kayak/canoe rental. So make sure to call ahead or look up rental companies nearby!

Free Museums

Raleigh has a few museums in the downtown area and they're all free! Which makes it perfect to go anytime they're open. Raleigh offers a Science Museum, History Museum, Art Museum, and The Museum of Life and Sciences (Durham). Downtown Raleigh also has a lot of historical buildings and parks. If you'd like to view all the museums, click here!

Angus Barn

Angus Barn has been voted one of the best steakhouses in the US. This does make it a little harder to get a seat here. So make sure to schedule your reservations a few weeks in advance to get the date and time you're looking for. They are a little pricey, but it is totally worth it. They have a large selection of items to choose from other than steak as well. This steakhouse is a must-try for your next special occasion!

Pullen Park

Pullen Park is one of America's oldest amusement parks! Pullen park opened up way back in 1887 and is the 5th oldest in the US. The park offers a few amusements including a carousel, train, pedal boats, and children's boats. They also have playgrounds, tennis courts, rental shelters, cafe, arts center, athletic fields, aquatic center, and more! If you're looking for something to do for the day, this is the place!

Shop At Crabtree Valley Mall

Crabtree Valley Mall is one of Raleigh's most popular malls. Crabtree Valley Mall offers an Apple Store, Amazon Store, Best Buy, Cheesecake Factory, Kanki, Lego Store, and much more. They have a rather large food court with many different types of food to choose from. There are also restaurants outside of the food court to choose from! Crabtree also has stores outside of the mall you can walk to as well.
